Field Work and Awareness Campaign Proposal: Eco-Friendly Club
CAMPAIGN PROPOSAL
FOR
ECO-FRIENDLY CLUB
1
JANUARY 2015
Eco-Friendly Club of UniKL MICET’s was initiated to enhance the students self
development, soft skills, diversifying students life style and experiences thorughout study
duration. Apart from academic development, these gained experiences will boost students
confidence level in embarking life during and after graduation. All of the club members have
been extensively exposed to fresh fresh water sampling and analysis during laboratory
sessions for their academic courses. However, their involvement with the community on
sharing their knowledge is seems to be lacking. The community should benefit from the
presence of our campus especially on the awareness activity related to marine water quality
of nearby popular beaches in Port Dickson.
Some spots of the beaches has been heavily polluted with the sewage effluent from hotels,
chalets, housing area and occasional of industrial discharged. Furthermore, the recretional
and tourism activities in Port Dickson have created unpleasent environment from the
mismanegement of solid waste. Eco-Friendly Club members were being saddened by this
conditions and overwhelming by the responsibility in contributing some efforts. Thus this
activity was initiated and planned.
The field work program is proposed to expose students to seawater sampling and analysis
besides the observation of beaches and mangrove ecosystem. All of club members will be
grouped into eight groups and taking turn for sampling and analysis of the sea water nearby
the ship route for water quality classification. On the other hands, environmental awareness
campaign on recretional solid waste management and importance of safeguarding the sea
water will be conducted at the Teluk Kemang beach nerby the UPM Marine Science Center,
Port Dickson. This activities which involve all semester of environmental section’s students
will serve as the medium for minimizing gaps between students and encouraging team work.
