How to write a BODY paragraph


1. Topic sentence (TS): a sentence to summarise the key points in the body

2. Supporting sentence (SS): reasons + elaborate (= expand)

3. Concluding sentence (CS): to summarise your body paragraph

TS: The obvious advantages of having a car include the freedom to go anywhere and
convenience.

SS 1:
 REASON: Firstly, car owners can go to any places at any time.

 ELABORATE: They don’t have to rely on public transport to get around. This is
especially important when the subway breakdowns or there is no taxi available
on rainy days.
OR
 ELABORATE: They can get to any places where public transport is not available
like some towns which are poorly serviced by public transport.

SS 2:
 REASON: Secondly, it is easier for car owners to get around.
 ELABORATE: Cars are available whenever you want right at your house.
Therefore, there is no need to make your way to bus stop or train station
and then wait for bus/train to arrive.
OR
 ELABORATE: They don’t have to be restricted by the schedule and routes of
taking public transport. This makes it easy for car owners to drive around
at any time that is convenient for them.
CS:
 In short, car owners surely enjoy the benefits of having a car.
