Summary

A Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient were employed in

order to observe the correlation between the Grade 10 BEP students’

academic performance and their socio-economic status. The researchers

developed a profiling questionnaires to be given to the respondents. This

study was limited to their social adjustments and intellectual aptitude. With

the data gathered and the results shown in Chapter 4, it is said that there is

a positive association between the students’ academic performance in their

daily allowances and parents’ monthly income.

Conclusion

Based on the statistical treatments and solving using the Pearson

product-moment correlation coefficient of the socio-economic status and the

academic status of Grade 10 BEP students of Tupi National High School, it

has been found that there is a significant relationship between the academic

performance of the students due to their socio-economic status, the daily

allowances and their parents’ monthly income.

Hence, the null hypotheses of this study which states that there is no

significant relationship between the students’ socio economic status and its

academic performance was rejected and the alternative hypotheses which

states that There is a significant relationship between the students’ socio-

economic status and their academic performance should therefore be

accepted.

Recommendations

This study should be introduced to the school because this study would

help the teachers, academic administrators in identifying, planning, and

upgrading the academic performance of the school.

And this study may also stimulate the other researchers to investigate

the different related factors that will affect the improvement of the students’

academic performances.
