 PUNE
Pune, being the 8th largest metropolis in India and the second largest in the state
of Maharashtra, was known as Punyanagari previously.

It is situated 560 m (1,837 ft) above sea level on the Deccan plateau, on the right
bank of the Mutha River.

Pune is considered the cultural capital of Maharashtra. Since the 1950’s, Pune has
had traditional old-economic industries which continue to grow today. Further, the
city is also known for manufacturing and automobiles, as well as government and
private sector research institutes for information technology (IT), education,
management and training that attract migrants, students, and professionals from
India, South East Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Pune is also one of the fastest growing cities in Asia-Pacific.

 HINJEWADI – PUNE’S IT HUB
Hinjewadi – Home to SCMHRD is located on the outskirts of Pune. It was a rural
village until the immergence of the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park. Since then it has
expanded into three phases amidst rapid urbanization of surrounding areas with a
further fourth phase in the pipeline.

The Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park at Hinjewadi houses many software companies.
Some of them include big names like IBM India, Mahindra Engineering, Idea
Cellular, KPIT, Tata Technologies, Infosys, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech
Mahindra, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Persistent Systems, Honeywell,
Mindtree, Barclays and Digital Group InfoTech. It also houses product companies
such as Compulink and CISCO. Hinjawadi is a hub for integrated townships in Pune
as well with residential complexes like Paranjape Schemes Blue Ridge, Ekta
Worldville, and Megapolis.
Hinjewadi is about 18 km from the Pune station and around 27 Km from the
airport.
