ISP TRAFFIC CRASH

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 10:

WHAT: Commercial Motor Vehicle Rollover Crash

WHERE: Interstate 57 Northbound at Milepost 237

WHEN: February 26, 2018, 9:22 am

VEHICLES: Unit 1 - red 2014 Peterbilt pulling a 2015 pig hauler trailer

Unit 2 – blue 2007 Freightliner pulling a 2011 Shipshe flatbed trailer

DRIVERS: Unit 1 – David S. Morgan, Male, 50, Knightstown, IN

Unit 2 – Steven E Woolen, Male, 41, Martinsville, IN

Passengers: Unit 1 – Jack L. Stoten, Male, 75, Knightstown, IN

Preliminary: According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, Unit 1 was traveling on
the ramp from I-74 West to I-57 North. Due to its excessive speed, the load
being hauled by Unit 1 shifted and caused Unit 1 to overturn on its driver side
across all northbound lanes of I-57. Unit 2 was traveling north on I-57 at this
location and had to swerve to the right to avoid Unit 1 and jackknifed in the east
ditch along I-57 adjacent to Unit 1.

TRANSPORTS: Unit 1 passenger and Unit 2 driver transported to a local hospital for injuries.

SEATBELTS: Seatbelts were worn by all involved

CHARGES: Driver of Unit 1 was cited for Too Fast for Conditions
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
