Mobile waste treatment technologies for energy production
20
mBOS would allow to utilise up to 90-95 % of solid waste which means
reduction of lan-filling demand by up to 1300 tons per year. This would save
corresponding landfill gate-fee and would reduce waste transportation demand
which can be estimated up to roughly 120-140 fully loaded municipal garbage
trucks with pneumatic waste compactor technology.
21
The produced heat from waste would reduce fuel consumptions for heating. The
potential savings for heat generation can be estimated as several tenths of tons of
natural gas or diesel equivalent.
If consider WtE as a renewable energy source then annual reduction of greenhouse
gas emission can be estimated for up to 3000 tons of CO2 equivalent (including
avoided methane release at landfill, CO2 emission reduction due to lower demands of
waste transportation and reduction of fuel combustion for heating purposes).
