Introduction: Having adequate information on clinical clerkship is important to determine medical students’

preparedness to undergo such different stage of their study. Thus the way to socialize becoming more important.
This study aims to measure the effectiveness of audiovisual method compared to traditional lecture method.

Method: Medical students were divided into two groups of thirty five. Each group were given different method of
clinical clerkship introductory, intervention group was given videos and the comparison group were given
traditional lectures. Students’ basic knowledge and their preparedness of clinical clerkship were measured before
and after the intervention and were compared before and after intervention and between two groups with
independent T test and paired T test.

Result: The improvement on medical students’ knowledge on clinical clerkship and their readiness between
audiovisual method and lecture method were proven statistically significant (p < 0,05), so did the improvement
between before and after the intervention (p < 0,05) on both group, but the improvement score in audiovisual
method was higher (22,77) than lecture method ( 9,82)

Conclusion: Audiovisual method was proven to be effective to introduce clinical clerkship compared to using
lecture method in medical students. However, combination using both method can be considered and studied in
the future.
