2-step clustering is used to cluster any parameter (irrespective of them being a mix of nominal,

ordinal or interval)

‘Productivity’ and ‘Satisfaction’ Index are the 2 parameters chosen to cluster people, on the basis of
(say) 4 clusters
Output
Double click on output

Highlighted ratio should not exceed 3

Change ‘View’ below to Clusters

Select Display  Evaluation Results  OK
As seen above, Cluster 3 is the best

Case 1: Identify the most prominent factor from Productivity & Job Satisfaction

Choose ‘Predictor Importance’ highlighted below

Case 2: Add Gender and Education to Categorical Variables
Output

5 clusters are given. Which is not good. So change to 4 factor model

As seen above, there is no mix-and-match in education and gender for individual clusters. Hence it is
a bad way of clustering

Choose ‘Predictor Importance’

Education and Gender are called Swamping Variables, since they give undesired (bad) results
