Analysis of Indirect Impact Sinubong
The survey was administered to one (1) identified indirect Impact Barangay of Sinubong, using a survey
questionnaire indicating their Demoraphic Characteristics, source of livelihood, income, and health.
Perception about the project, their perceived negative and positive impacts. Gender analysis was also
done to look into their roles and responsibilities in the context of their community.
Sampling Design
Ten (10) Community decision makers, 1 Barangay chairperson, 9 Barangay Council members , 11
Multi-sectoral representatives (women representatives, farmer group representative, senior citizen,
church group representative and other authority figures of the community).
Methodology: A survey questionnaire was used in the Gender Responsive Socio-eco perception survey
DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS
Of the twenty one (21) respondents, almost all (90.48%) are nuclear families of which 71.43% are
women with only 28.57 % men. Almost all (90.48%) have been born in the Barangay while some have
also been born in other places. Many respondents are in the late productive ages of 51 to 60 years old
(38.10%). Almost all (85.71%) are Bisaya with a great majority (71.43%) Chavacano. Almost all of them
(90.48%) are Catholics and (57.14%) have had vocational schooling. Majority (54%) are male children.
With an average of 2 to 5 or 53 % of children staying with them.
Majority (57.14%) per cent indicated that they have stayed in the barangay from 41 to 50 years.
PERCEPTION
Almost all (95.24%) know about the project with most (38.10 %) getting their information about the
project from the Barangay and Silingan. Many (76.19%) consider the project to provide livelihood and
no possible negative effects of the project. Comparing their situation to 5 years ago, almost half
(71.43%) indicated that it’s good.
HOUSEHOLD INCOME AND EMPLOYMENT
Almost all (95.24%) earn salary from working in the sardine factories. Almost all husband (95.24%) and a
half of the wives (47.62%) contribute to the household income and further augmented by their sons
(66.67%). Seventy-six percent of them earn from P5, 000 to 1`0,000 per month
LAND RESOURCE
Majority (57.14%) are land tenants and planted with almost all bananas (95.24%) and sweet potato
(90.48%). The physical environment is perceived by (80.95%) as in good condition of which almost all
(90.48%) seeing it in better condition,
HEALTH SITUATION
Almost all (80.95%) male members got sick during the year with fever (9.52%), and cough (38.10%).
Majority (71.43%) have gone to the Barangay Health Center to seek medical attention.
Almost all (80%) of the residents avail of the Barangay water system for water supply while a few
(20%) still use deep well .
Almost all of the respondents use water sealed toilets while forty percent use flush toilets
2. GENDER ANALYSIS
In the context of their culture , livelihood (42.86%)is generally the father’s domain,
shares in family affairs while household finances (42.86%) is both mother’s and father’s
responsibility with community affairs being shared by the husbands and wives
2. Reproductive activities
Cooking (85%) is basically the women’s responsibility with the girls (66.67%), although
the husband cooks (66.67%) if necessary which also holds true for washing of the cloths.
In their community men, boys, and girls also take turns. House Cleaning which is a
shared responsibilities of all.
3. Productive Activities
Raising of animals (95.24%) and vegetable production are women’s realm (95.24%). In
like manner, cooking and vending (95.24%) are women’s domain.
5. Community Management
Participation in Community Cleaning are also shared with specific responsibilities. Repair
of community structures is basically the realm of the husbands.
Both men and women are users of the land resources, home resources and monetary
resources. In who decides its use, Men (80.95%) are the exclusive decision makers of its
use, home resources and monetary resources are decided both men and women.
The Gender Analysis reveals that the community is generally gender responsive which is
characteristically Filipino. The mainstreaming of gender into the Barangay governance
as required by the Local Government Code has been put in place by their
implementation of their Gender Action Plan.
