Dear Studio One,

I am a 65 year old Grandma enrolled in watercolor and beginning
drawing classes at Studio One. This has been a real gift to me, never
having painted or sketched before. After my first couple of classes, I
had to discontinue classes and have spinal fusion surgery.

The image “Blonde Ponytail” features a back, and is one I painted

while awaiting the scheduled date of my surgery. It represents for me,
the ability to create, while working through pain and depression.

Studio One has an amazing staff of art instructors. I would never be

able to afford art classes of this quality without Studio One. I have
been painting now almost two years. Two of my paintings were chosen
by a jury to hang in the lobby of John Muir Hospital Aspen Surgery
Center.

I am one of the supporters who crammed the chambers of City Hall, to

protest budget cuts to the arts, and I will continue to do so.

All art work on these pages are by Mira White. Check out her websit

Beginning Perspective Drawing
How do I add depth to my drawings?  How do I show distance in a landscape?  Why do all my drawings look flat?
Use of perspective drawing techniques is a valuable tool for creating a sense of depth on two-dimensional surfaces.
Whether you are new to perspective drawing or just drawing in general you are welcome to participate in this basic
course. At the conclusion of our class, you will have an understanding of how one-point and two-point perspective is
used to draw buildings, interior rooms and landscapes.

Capoeira
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, music and dance. Created by
slaves from Africa sometime after the sixteenth century in Brazil, Capoeira’s sparring is marked by fluid
acrobatic play, feints, takedowns, and with extensive use of leg sweeps, kicks, and headbutts. Participants will
take turns either playing musical instruments, singing or ritually sparring in pairs in the center of a circle.
