Lesson Plan in SCIENCE V

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the 60-minute class, the students are able to:

1. Identify the role of producers, consumers and decomposers in an


ecosystem.
2. Connect the relationship of producers, consumers and decomposers in
the food chain.
3. Describe the importance producers, consumers and decomposers in our
ecosystem.

II. LEARNING CONTENT

Subject Matter: The Producers, Consumers and Decomposers


Reference: virtualmuseum.ca, pinterest
Materials:
 Pictures of various animals, plants, insects, from the ecosystem.
 Cups
Values: Identifying the importance.

III. LEARNING PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary Activity

1. The students will be group into three (3).


2. The students choose their group leader.
3. Each group will receive pictures of common species from the
ecosystem.
4. The students will discuss per group and share their personal
opinions/stories about the pictures they have.
5. The group leader will show the pictures they got and share what they
have discussed in the whole class.

B. Lesson Proper
1. The teacher will briefly discuss on how the pictures interconnected
with each other and their roles in our ecosystem.

2. The students will play the game “Stocking Cups”.


STOCKING CUPS GAME:
Each group will choose a representative to play in the game.
(The teacher will explain the game instruction.)
3. The teacher will ask some questions about the game.
4. The teacher will encourage the students to share what they have
learned in the game.

C. GENERALIZATION

The teacher will tell the students that what they have just created
is a food chain. It is a model used by ecologists to illustrate how food is
produced (made) and consumed (eaten) in an ecosystem.

D. EVALUATION

The students will explain the connection of producers, consumers


and decomposers with each other.

E. ASSIGNMENT

The teacher will ask the students to make their own food chain
and identify correctly the producer, consumer and decomposer.
