Call For Papers - Thematic Workshop On Islamic Financial Literacy

Financial education and awareness should be promoted by all relevant stakeholders and clear
information on consumer protection, rights and responsibilities should be easily accessible by
consumers. Appropriate mechanisms should be developed to help existing and future consumers
develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to appropriately understand risks, including
financial risks and opportunities, make informed choices, know where to go for assistance, and
take effective action to improve their own financial well-being.
It obvious that a sound financial health is critical to the well-being of the individual and family.
Well-informed consumers will enhance the functioning of the financial sector in general and
financial industry in particular. A population that is prudent and knowledgeable helps to
contribute to the financial resilience of the country. It will also help people to be more self-reliant
in financial affairs – skillful in managing day-to-day finances, make prudent investments and
plan for longer-term needs which comply to syariah. The correct understanding on financial
management and responsibility is crucial to avoid debt society culture.
Best Practices, advanced experiences, researchers and related regulators are expected to join this
workshop aiming to design a better Islamic Financial Literacy project in the future.
The main characteristics of this workshop are: a strongly operative perspective, presentations by
experts including regulators, best practices from practitioners, participation of a limited number
of attendants (few best selected papers).
Expected output from the workshop is list of action and concrete project possibilities which
suggesting Islamic financial literacy for benefit of ummah from socio and economic perspectives.
IRTI will prepare brief and concrete synthesis reports on the results of the workshop that will be
sent to the participants.
Aims to provide a thorough overview of the Islamic Financial Literacy; the current status and
future prospects. It is to promote the Islamic financial literacy, highlight the Issues and challenges
and to suggest solution and choices to the consumers.

The thematic workshop will cover the following areas and topics (but not limited to) both
conceptual and empirical studies:
Financial Education
Financial Planning
Consumption and saving
Consumer Protection in Financial Sector
Financial Management
Financial Inclusion
Islamic Social Finance Sector
Roles of Bank and Non-Bank Institution in Financial Literacy
Investments
Who to participate:
Academicians, researchers, regulators and practitioners are cordially invited to contribute papers
and participate in the workshop.
International authors of the accepted papers will be covered by IRTI for round-trip economy
class air ticket, registration fee and hotel accommodation during the workshop. In the case of
more than one authors, only one presenter will be covered by IRTI.
Proceedings / Publication:
This workshop is intended as a meeting of minds among thinkers, scholars and practitioners
(maximum 40 persons). The papers presented at the discussion will be reviewed for consideration
to publish in a book that will be published by IRTI.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Abstract
The guidelines for the abstract are:
1. The abstract should be written in Times New Roman with font size 12 and single (1.0)
spacing.
2. Abstracts should be within 250-300 words only.
3. Abstract should be submitted in one paragraph only.
4. Keywords should be identified (not more than one line)
Full Paper
The guidelines for the papers are:
1. Papers should be written in Times New Roman with font size 12 and 1.5 spacing.
2. Papers should be no more than 20 pages in length.
3. The formatting system should follow the APA Formatting and Style Guide which can be

4. The paper should be original and of high academic standard.
