Unbound
Readathon
We participated in the Unbound
Reading Challenge throughout
the whole month of February.
We averaged 1404 minutes read
each week. We also participated
in the Unbound Readathon,
which occurred on February 28.
As part of the Readathon, the
youth took advantage of the
opportunity to read all day during
their classes. We have several
voracious readers here right now
and lots of them jumped at the
chance to get in more reading
time.

Note from the Teachers
● We  are  pleased  to  announce  that  one  of  our  students  passed  all  four sections of the GED!  He put a lot of
time into studying and we are so proud of him.
● We  have  several  students  who  are  studying  for  the  upcoming  ACT  in  April.  The  ACT  test  is  required  for
11th grade students and a good score on it is usually required for college admission.
● Finally,  this  is  always  a  tough  time  of  year  for  many  students  because  of  the  cold  weather  and  lack  of
sunlight.  However,  we  are  still keeping busy and are looking forward to completing more credits as spring
approaches.  Some  students  are  excitingly  close  to  earning  their  diplomas.  We  are  pleased  to  announce
that 3 students are preparing to graduate in our next Commencement ceremony on April 12.

New Books from Scholastic

It’s  always  fun  to  get  a  package  in  the  mail.  It’s
especially  fun  when  there  are  new  books  in  those
packages!  To  kick  off  our  participation  in  the
February  Readathon,  Scholastic  sent  us  dozens  of
brand  new  paperback  books.  We  opened  the  boxes
of  books  together,  took  lots  of  photos,  and  had  a
blast.
