Methanococcus

Methanococcus jannaschii is an autotropic hyperthermophillic organism that belongs to the kingdom of Archaea. They were
found to live in extreme environments such as hypothermal vents at the bottom of the oceans in which water reaches boiling
temperature or pressure is extremely high. This autotrophic organism is strictly anaerobic and gets its energy by the reduction of
CO2 with H2 to generate methane.

Methanobacterium

Methanobacterium palustre has a thin, rod-like shape and has been characterized as Strain F. This bacillus microorganism
has an average cell length of anywhere between 2.5µm – 5µm. These are used mostly as a means for cellular reproduction. It is a
mesophilic organism, best suited for temperatures between 33 degrees and 37 degrees.
