SMART Notebook Reflection
Presenting the Materials Interactively opened my eyes to the range of creativity in lesson
planning and instruction. Utilizing the SMART notebook into lesson preparation and instruction
altered my perception in a positive way of how students learn in classrooms. It is very engaging,
The lesson I designed is for ESL, emerging level of fourth graders. This lesson is to
evaluate their skills in comprehension, concepts, and events. They will first read the classic short
story of Cinderella. Then, they will work in pairs to fill out a graphic organizer of a story map to
evaluate their understanding of the story. After their story map, the students will be able to
collaborate with each other to complete the story in the proper sequence order. Finally, the
students will write a sentence or two for each question in ways they can help Cinderella using
their imaginary wand. My goal for this lesson is to determine the language acquisition my
students may vary and to demonstrate their knowledge of understanding. In doing so, a lot of
images of graphic organizers would have to be implemented for this instruction to work.
Students learn best through visual representations. I believe all tools in the SMART are
very pragmatic and fun. The only device I found challenging was the object animation. I could

would be perfect to implement when tapping into students' prior knowledge of a topic. Or to use
a hypothesis of any sort. Table of cell shades and window shades would be perfect to reveal
sight words or answers for any subject. The creative pen and infinite cloner would be fun for
students and teachers to use on a daily basis. Inserting videos and images would be great for
