4. Rationale for the inclusion of the course in the programme:

This course will provide knowledge to students on assembling computer hardware and
peripherals, installing software, diagnosing computer problem and troubleshooting, repairing
computer parts and restoring software in accordance with company procedure and
manufacturer manual.

12. Course Synopsis:


This course is designed to introduce students to the preparation of computer set-up tools,
computer hardware parts and computer software. They will learn how to assemble computer
hardware, carry out computer software installation, set-up computer peripherals, carry out unit
functionality test and prepare computer system set-up report. They will use and analyse computer
repair job request or change order form to carry out computer repair trouble shooting, perform on-
site computer repair and prepare computer status report. Students will be exposed to the
instructions and procedures of the work that suit the current industrial needs.
