A group of students went on a field trip to a
conventional wastewater treatment plant.

manager, “Is it safe to drink the treated effluent
because it looks clear and drinkable? “

dissolve in the water or
microorganisms which are all
around us? “ the manager
said.

Why did the


manager say
this?

The manager then further said, “The


effluent is not drinkable because different
uses of water raise different expectations
and requirements. So, it is only suitable for
discharge into the rivers, lakes or seas.
