It Suggests The Moon Resulted From The Collision of Two Protoplanets. (Earth and Mars)
Moon is also known as “Luna” sa Romans, sinasabing pinagmulan daw ng bwan ay sila Selene tsaka si Artemis, at
iba pang mga pangalan sa mythologies.
It is the second brightest object in the sky after the sun.
The moon is a bit more than one-fourth (27 percent) the size of Earth.
The Luna is the fifth largest moon in the solar system.
The crust of the moon is about 38 to 63 miles (60 to 100 kilometers) thick.
It takes 27.3 days to orbit the earth.
So the moon orbits around the earth once per a month.
The time between successive new moon is 29.5 days or 709 hrs.
Dahil sa size at composition nito, sinasabi rin itong terrestrial planet kasama ang Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.
Luna 2
The Moon was first visited by the Soviet spacecraft Luna 2 in 1959.
Apollo 11
The first landing was on July 20, 1969 kasama si Armstrong. (Apollo 11)
Astronomers
Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin
Apollo 17
The Last was 1972 (Apollo 17)
Moon and Earth
The Moon's gravitational attraction is stronger on the side of the Earth nearest to the Moon and weaker on the
opposite side.
Moon made of
The moon's surface is covered with dead volcanoes, impact craters, and lava flows, some visible to the unaided
stargazer
Of course, the period of heavy bombardment, which ended about 3.8 billion years ago, wasn't responsible for all
of the craters on the moon.
Early scientists thought the dark stretches of the moon might be oceans, and so named such features mare, which
is Latin for "seas" (maria when there are more than one).
They are oceans of a sort, but rather than water, such bodies are made up of pools of hardened lava.
Early in the moon's history, the interior was molten enough to produce volcanoes, though it quickly cooled and
hardened.
Lava also burst from the crust when large enough asteroids broke through the surface.
How moon formed
In 1970’s the leading explanation for the moon’s origin, is known as Giant Impact Hypothesis.
It suggests the moon resulted from the collision of two protoplanets. (Earth and Mars)
Sinasabi rin na ang mga sample na bato mula sa moon ay pinag aralan at lumalabas na ang bato ay mas katulad sa Earth.
