World Book Day
We hope you had chance to see some
of the images we tweeted about World
Book Day last week; the children had a
lovely time sharing their favourite
books with their friends. I took a few
children to Redwalls Nursing Home on
Weaverham Road to meet some of the
residents. They really enjoyed hearing
our children read stories and draw
pictures from their favourite books. I
think we made a group of elderly
people very happy with our visit.
Y5 off on their Residential Visit
We wished Year 5 well this morning as
they left for their three-day visit to the
Conway Centre on Anglesey. We have a
number of activities planned for the
children. We hope to keep you
updated through Twitter. Thank you, as
always to the staff who support and
lead the residential visits, recognising
the importance that they play in the
confidence building of our children.
Languages Day
We will be holding another Language
Day on Friday 16th March. This year,
each class has a country to study for
the day with many activities planned
by the class teachers and by Mrs
Greenbury. They will be supplied with
everything they need during the day,
Spring Term 2018
however, we are asking for a £1
voluntary contribution for the day. This
will cover any costs and support the
purchase of language resources this
school year. Please see the letter
attached to the newsletter email.
Dressing up is optional for the day (see
letter). Please be aware that children
may be food tasting (we already have
your permission for this) on the day.
Sports Relief
I have tried to respond to a number of
parents who are concerned with the
number of fundraising events we hold
in school by keeping the Sports Relief
one slightly more low-key in terms of
the amount of preparation that needs
to be done at home. All week (from
Monday 19th to Friday 23rd March) the
children will be engaged in lots of
sporting activities. This will culminate
in our well-being afternoon on the
Friday. For this day, we would like the
children to come to school in any PE
clothing (but not football strips on this
occasion). This should be suitable for
both indoor and outdoor PE sessions.
The children will be involved in more
well-being activities that are intended
to focus on mental and spiritual well-
being…and taking time out of our busy
lives to relax. I know how much the
children enjoy these sessions.
Vale Royal Lions Easter Eggs
The children can buy a square on a
card for £1 to be in for a chance to win
the very large chocolate Easter Egg on
display in school (or one of the smaller
ones). At the end of the term, names
will be drawn for each class and an
overall winner. Profits will be
distributed equally between the Vale
Royal Lions and our school. Thank you
for your support.
PTA Film Night
Keep an eye open for PTA letter about
the upcoming PTA event. The children
will get a choice of film which they will
be able to enjoy with their friends.
Refreshments will be served half-way
through the event. Please collect all
children from the Junior doors at the
time to be confirmed by the PTA.
