Re: — Complaint Against Curtis Boyd, M.D.
Dear Ms. Shaver:
Thank you for your referral. As you know, the New Mexico Medical Board received your
complaint against Curtis Boyd, M.D. on 12/18/2017, and was forwarded to the Executive
Committee for their review and determination on whether or not a formal investigation is
warranted.
The Board’s Executive Committee have reviewed the complaint and have determined that the
allegations contaifted in it warrant further formal review to determine whether the licensee is in
violation of the Medical Practice Act. Because you are a third party complainant and you do not
have direct knowledge of the specific incident(s) described, nor have direct knowledge about the
patient, the Committee determined that the Board will initiate a board complaint in order to
investigate the matter. Pursuant to NMSA 1978, § 61-6-34(B), all information relating to actual
or potential disciplinary action, i.c., the investigation material, is confidential and not public
information. Therefore, you will not receive further information about this matter and this is the
last communication you will receive from the Board.
However, if the board votes to issue a NCA (“Notice of Contemplated Action”), and the case
proceeds to hearing, portions of the investigation file may become public information and will be
made available under the Inspection of Public Records Act through a written request of the
Board. Any disciplinary action taken against the licensee by the Board becomes a matter of
public record and will be posted on our website at www.nmmb.state.nm.,
‘The Board appreciates you bringing this matter to our attention. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to call me at (505) 476-7240.
