The Celebration of Prophet Muhammad SAW Maulid

Assalamu’alaikum wr.wb

There are words worthy saying except to extend all the praise to Allah Swt due to all of his blessing,
mercy, and guidance upon all of us so that we can still take the benefit from His blessing, namely the
good health and oxygen we breathe in without any need to cost anything.

Sholawat and salam may everlastingly be upon our adoration, Great Prophet Muhammad SAW who
had guided and

led us from darkness into the shining bright path.

To all the honorable ladies, gentlemen, and audience,

On the 12th Rabiul Awal 1431 H coincided on 26th February 2010, all of the Muslims are celebrating
Maulid (the birth) of Prophet Muhammad SAW, that’s nothing but the heritage of Islamic
civilizations which has been carried out from generation to generation.

In historical record, Maulid was started since the Caliph era of Fatimiyah under the rule of the
descendant of Fatimah Az-Zahrah, Daughter of Muhammad.

This celebration was carried out under the suggestion of Warlord Shalahuddin Al-Ayyubi (1137 –
1193 AC), towards the caliphates in order to celebrate the day of Muhammad’s birth.

It’s all carried out in order to regain the spirits of fight of Muslims under the struggle in order to free
Mosque Al-Aqsha in Palestine from the holds of Christians, and then create massive effects, namely
spirits of Jihad for Muslims which were impassioned at that time.

Substantially, the celebration of Maulid of Prophet is as a form of effort to know about the example
of Muhammad as the disseminator of Islamic teachings. Recorded throughout the history of life,
Prophet Muhammad is an amazing and great leader in giving esteemed examples for his followers.

In the Islamic socio-anthropological and historical order, Muhammad could be seen and understood
in two different social dimensions that complement in each other.

Firstly, in the theological-religious perspective, Muhammad was seen and understood as a figure of
prophet as well as the last Messenger of God in the Islamic order of concept. This positions
Muhammad as a figure of holy man who became a representative of God in the world who had
duties to bring, deliver, and implement all the forms of “holy” massages of God to mankind
universally.

Secondly, in the social-political perspective, Muhammad was seen and understood as an excellent
figure of politician. Muhammad’s individual figure which was identical to wise, tolerant, humanist,
and indiscriminative and hegemonic leader made him lead Arabian social society order at that time
in order to reach for prosperous and peaceful social society order.

It has become general news that we are in need of a nation leader figure that is able to reinstruct an
image of leadership and social society which are ideal, tolerant, humanist, and indiscriminative just
like Prophet Muhammad did for the mankind.
The contextuality of Maulid celebration isn’t only understood through the Islamic perspectives, but
also it needs to be understood from other perspectives that involve all the issues, such as politics,
cultures, economics, or religions.

To all the dearest ladies, gentlemen, and audience,

Prophet Muhammad was born into the world. His coming brought duties. His leaving left traces. His
coming brought duties which were finished in 23 years. His coming to the world is to mend the
manners (sholihah akhlak) so that all of his followers will turn into well-mannered people (makarimal
akhlak)

Well-mannered to whom?

Well-mannered to Allah who created us

Well-mannered to Allah’s Messenger

Well-mannered to each belief we embrace

Well-mannered to own selves

Well-mannered to parents

Well-mannered to people

Well-mannered to our mother land

Well-mannered to the nation

Well-mannered to Allah

For example, before eating we must pray by saying “bismillahirahmanirahim” (In the name of Allah
the Most Gracious the Most Benevolent). It is a well-mannered deed to Allah.

Well-mannered to Rasulullah (Allah’s Messenger)

Rasul is a great gateway of belief. Therefore, we are supposed to always be well-mannered to

Rasulullah.

Well-mannered to each belief we embrace

Every belief teaches the holiness. Therefore, we need to be well-mannered in having religion. In Al
Quran we are forbidden to destroy synagogues, churches, or mosques, and the places where the
names of Allah are mentioned. For that reason, if there is a person who destroys a church in the
name of religion, it is totally a lie. It is indeed in the name of his/her lust.

Well-mannered to own self

Like how we are ordered to cover our aurat (a part of body which may not be visible) is a deed to be
well-mannered to own self. Seven layers of sky and seven layers of earth which were created by
Allah are like coconut husks, while the diamonds are the humans. Therefore, be well-mannered to
own selves!

Well-mannered to parents

Do not make ourselves become insubordinate children like a story of a mother from a village who
succeeded to make her son become success person. But someday when his mother came to see him,
she was not honored and driven away by his son. The loatheness of the mother caused by her son’s
deeds finally made her son and all of his family punished by Allah’s wrath by the annihilation of all of
his places and families. The son was supposed to be proud of his mother who had succeed to make
him a success person compared to other parents who might not be able to do the same thing as his
mother did.

Well-mannered to other people

In life, we cannot stand outside of society. Therefore, we must be well-mannered to them.

Well-mannered to motherland

A hadith that tells about loving the motherland is a part of faith which is a well-mannered deed to
mother land. Our predecessors made the Garuda Pancasila as a symbol of our nation that symbolizes
a great soul and spirit. However, what is happening now is that the souls of Indonesian people are
having a chronic sickness since the love of homeland is fading away over time.

And then, to whom are we taught to be well-mannered? We are taught to be well-mannered to the
orphanages, needy people, and those people who are troubled by the disasters.

I wish my speech could bring all the good things for each of us. I say my apology for the mistakes on
my words.

Wassalamu’alaikum.

Terjemahan Pidato Bahasa Inggris Maulid Nabi

Peringatan Maulid Nabi Muhammad Saw

Assalamu Alaikum wr.Wb

agar mengadakan peringatan hari kelahiran Muhammad.

Contohnya bagaimana kita sebelum makan berdoa dulu bismillahirrohmanirrohim.

Rosululloh

Sopan terhadap agama yang kita peluk masing-masing.

Semua agama mengajarkan kesucian.
