Week 5

Michael Shaw

UNC Charlotte

General Information and Campus Life

8. UNCC is a residential school, however they have a large portion of their population enrolled
as commuters. Transfer students are allowed to live on campus, as there are on campus
housing for all levels of college.

5. Three benefits to attending this school would be its closeness to my home and to uptown
Charlotte, the free access to their brand new gym and facilities, and the light rail station that just
opened up on campus which can take you uptown.

2. The major I plan on doing is Social Work, which is accredited.

4. If I stay on track after transferring, I will be able to graduate in 2 years.

3. UNCC requires at least 24 credits to transfer.

Admission Requirements
1. $75
2. UNCC has a specific application that is unique to the school.
3. High School transcripts and the transcripts of the college you are transferring from are the
only transcripts required for the transfer application if you are transferring with an
Associate’s Degree.
4. There are no reference requirements.
5. There is no essay.
6. You do not need an interview, although it is recommended to meet with a transfer consular.
7. The application is due on May 15th for the next Fall semester.
8. The minimum GPA requirement is a 2.0, however a 2.5 to 3.0 is competitive.
9. There are no additional requirements to get into the major I would like to get into.
10. I do not need an ACT or SAT score when applying as a transfer student, unless I have less
than 24 credit hours.

Next Steps/Action Plan

1. The main questions that I still have about any college I am looking at are how successful
their Social Work programs are for getting into graduate schools, and I also want to look into
the graduate programs, as I would like to stay at one single school rather than bouncing
around.
2. Two things I can do to help with my transfer application process include meeting with a
transfer advisor and meeting with and researching the heads of the majors I would like to go
into, so that I can get a good idea about what I am going to be doing the next 2 years.
