At the heart of Rodel Tapaya’s work is his ongoing

amalgamation of folk narrative and contemporary

reality within the framework of memory and history.
Utilizing a range of media — from large acrylic on
canvasses to an exploration of under-glass painting,
traditional crafts, diorama, and drawing — Tapaya
filters his observations of the world through folktales
and pre-colonial historical research, creating
whimsical montages of his characters. Each work has
its origin in Tapaya’s reflections on a particular time or
place that possesses an enduring resonance, from its
correspondence with the formalistic and psychological
implication of the grid in his earlier works to protracted
ventures which excavate and interpret myth and folk
aesthetics. Inherent in the work is a tension between
objective investigations of art and the subjectivity of
perception and experience, providing his work with an
enigma that comes from the impossibility to paint a
story without revealing inflections made by the
painter’s hand.
Rodel Tapaya is one of the most active artists in
Southeast Asia today. His breakthrough came when he
was awarded the coveted Top Prize in the Nokia Art
Awards, which allowed him to pursue intensive
drawing and painting courses at Parsons School of
Design in New York and the University of Helsinki in
Finland. He completed his studies at the University of
the Philippines College of Fine Arts.

A few months before Mia (Julia Montes) turns 18, her father (Jett Pangan) dies. She goes to Baguio City to live
with her mother (Ina Raymundo), her stepfather (Edu Manzano), and her half-brother (Miguel Vergara). Mia
misses her father terribly that she finds it hard to fit into her new home, despite her mother’s sympathetic efforts
and her half-brother’s irresistible cuteness. Good thing, Mia seems to be friendly enough to have made new pals,
like Alvin Paredes (JC de Vera), who, it turns out, sees her as more than a friend.
Then Mia meets a mysterious young man who suddenly appears and disappears; and he’s always dressed in
black leather jacket over white shirt, scarf, and denim pants whom she gets to know as Gio Brauner (Gerald
Anderson). Mia is smitten by Gio’s romantic gestures and protective ways. He teaches her to play the guitar, and
brings her roses, and he even rescues her from bad guys, and helps her overcome her fears. She feels she has
found in Gio her knight in shining armor who will rescue her from her incurable loneliness and deathly sadness.
But Mia’s family and friends are alarmed that she has become secluded and deluded in her own imaginary
world. In the end, she has to decide what matters most to her and where her heart truly is.
Set design

This is my one of the beautiful where there shoot because i love the bridge and the surroundings.

Film making
It is set and filmed in Baguio. According to director Emmanuel Quindo Palo in picking Baguio City as the
movie's setting, he describe Baguio as overpopulated but no one can ever question the city's picturesque
landscape which serves as an eye-candy for those watching Halik sa Hangin. Several scenes from the film were
also shot in a 1930s abandoned American house and at the supposedly haunted Diplomat Hotel, both located in
Baguio City.

Acting

One of my best part in the movie because Gerald teach Julia how to play a guitar and it make sense for me
because of their tandem their like a spark.

Direction

The direction of the movie was good because at the first it all start in suspend and a horror so it make like a
trail.

Background music

The background music was good because the timg and the place was exact.

Cinematography

The cinematography was perfect they capture all the sweet moment and were Julia find fight for love from
they family, friends and love ones.

charters they act was brilliant. You will appreciate the movie if you
