5 Intended Field of Application


The pendant light fitting 6050 is intended for the use in gas explosive atmospheres
(zones 1 and 2 according to IEC 60079-10-1) and zones with dust explosion hazards
(zones 21 and 22 according to IEC 60079-10-2).
The light fitting is designed for the use in indoor and outdoor environments.
The use in other potentially explosive atmospheres does not correspond to the 
designated use and is therefore not allowed.

Use the device in accordance with its designated use only!
 Otherwise, the manufacturer’s liability and warranty will expire.
 The device may only be used according to the operating conditions described
in these operating instructions.
 The device must be used in areas subject to explosion hazards only according to
these operating instructions.

Transport, Storage and Disposal

7 Transport, Storage and Disposal

7.1 Transport
 Shock-free in its original carton, do not drop, handle carefully.

7.2 Lagerung
 Store in a dry place in its original packaging

7.3 Disposal
 Ensure environmentally friendly disposal of all components according to the legal 
regulations.

8 Assembly and Installation

WARNING
The electrical installation must be carried out by qualified personnel!
 All connections and wiring must be disconnected from the power supply.
 Secure the connections against unauthorised activation.

8.1 Electrical Connection of Light Fittings with Terminal Box


WARNING
Installation in hazardous areas!
 Use only wires prescribed by the manufacturer for gas explosive areas.
 Conductor cross-section: 1.5 ... 4 mm2.
Cable entries
The light fitting 6050 is equipped with two entry holes. One cable gland and one stopping
plug are mounted. The electrical connection into the Ex d chamber is realised by a 
flameproof cable bushing (size M16 x 1,5).
To mount other approved glands proceed as follows:

Assembly and Installation

 Insert the cable gland into the terminal box and tighten it by means of a counter nut
(see picture).
Tightening torque: metal cable gland 3 Nm, plastic cable gland 2 Nm
 Tighten the cable gland and the pressure screw of the cable gland after installation.
 Use a certified stopping plug to seal the opening that is not used.
 After installation, check the tightness of the cable gland (IP66).

Electrical Connection

 Loosen the Torx screws M6 (1) and remove the cover.


 Loosen the cable gland (2) (approx. three turns)
 Insert the cable from outside through the cable gland into the terminal box.
 Remove approx. 10 mm of the cable insulation using an appropriate tool.
 Unlock the screwless terminals (3) by means of a screwdriver and introduce the wire.
Make sure that the insulation of the wire is not inserted into the terminal.
 Close the cable gland by tightening it.
 Re-attach the cover and close it using the respective screws. The IP protection must
be guaranteed.
 The light fitting is now ready for operation.

8.2 Wire Guard Assembly

 Insert the wire guard into the respective slots (1) of the light fitting.
 Tighten the screws (2).
 The wire guard is mounted.

8.3 Assembly of the External Reflector

 Attach the external reflector to the light fitting as shown on the drawing.
 Insert the provided screws (1) and tighten them.
 The external reflector is mounted.

8.4 Assembly of the Holding Bracket


 The holding bracket can be used for wall or ceiling mounting
 Thanks to a raster, the light fitting can be adjusted in steps of 10° to max. 40°.

 Remove the glass fixing ring


 Slide the fixing plates (1) into the groove.
 Fix the raster plates (2) on the fixing plates by means of the provided screws.
 Position the bracket holders (3).
 Insert the holding bracket (4) and fix it by means of the provided screws.
 Re-attach the glass fixing ring.
 The holding bracket is mounted.

8.5 Ring Bolt Assembly

 Screw the ring bolts into the respective threaded inserts.


 The ring bolts can be used to suspend the light fitting.

Putting into Service

Before commissioning the pendant light fitting, ensure that
 the light fitting is correctly installed.
 the connection has been correctly made.
 the cable has been inserted correctly.
 the opening which is not used is sealed.
 the light fitting is correctly closed.

10 Replacing the lamp

WARNING
Danger due to energised parts!
 Risk of severe injuries.
 All connections and wiring must be disconnected from the power supply.
 Secure the connections against unauthorised activation.
WARNING
Hot surfaces!
 Risk of burns to hands.
 Let the housing, the protective glass and the lamp cool down for approx.
15 min before touching them.
 To facilitate the removal, the glass fixing ring is provided with holes 
(d 10.5 mm) where a lever can be mounted to intensify the leverage.

 Loosen the mounting screw (1).


 Loosen the protective glass and the fixing ring (2).
 The locking pin (3) prevents the protective glass from falling down.
 Remove the lamp (4).
 Screw the new lamp in (see chapter 11, "Accessories and Spare Parts").
 Carefully mount the protective glass. Make absolutely sure that the flameproof thread
is not damaged.

 Tighten the protective glass using the rotary actuator until the tightness can be 
guaranteed and the thread gap (A) is ( 0.3 mm for size 1 and ( 0.5 mm for size 3.
 Tighten the mounting screw.
 Replacement of the lamp is completed.

Conformity to Standards

Light fitting 6050/5 LED, Type T6


 Disconnect all connections and wirings from supply!
 Secure the connections against unauthorized switching!
 Allow the light to cool down for at least 15 minutes!
 Unscrew protective glass carefully from the retaining ring!!
Variant 1:
 Localize the temperature limiter (Reset knob) A in the cover from above (Figure 2).
 Actuate the Reset knob (A) using a long rod.
Variant 2:
 Disconnect the LED module.
 Remove the heat sink by rotating it.
 Localize the temperature limiter (Reset knob) A in the cover from above (Figure 1).
 Press the Reset knob.
 Screw the heat sink in again.
 Connect the LED module.
 For assembly, see items 1 - 4 in reverse order.
 Replace glass retaining ring.

12 Maintenance

WARNING

 Risk of severe injuries.
 All connections and wiring must be disconnected from the power supply.
 Secure the connections against unauthorised activation.

Maintenance work is not permitted on flameproof enclosures.
 Explosion protection is not guaranteed any longer.
 The manufacturer’s liability and warranty expire.
 Repairs are only to be carried out by the manufacturer.

Hot surfaces!
 Risk of burns to hands.
 Let the housing, the protective glass and the lamp cool down for approx.
15 min before touching them.
12.1 Regular Maintenance Work
 Consult the relevant national regulations (e.g. IEC/EN 60079-17) to determine the type
and extent of inspections.
 Plan the intervals so that any defects in the equipment which may be anticipated are
promptly detected.

To check as part of the maintenance schedule:


X Cracks or damages on the glass cover and on the enclosure.
X Condition of the connecting cables.
X Compliance with the permitted temperatures in accordance with EN 60079-0.
X Connection of protective earth conductor or equipotential bonding.
X Cable glands are intact and tightened
X Seals inside the cable glands.
X Area inside the enclosure (Ex d and Ex e) is clean and not damaged.
X Mounting screws of the holding bracket are tightened.
X Visual inspection of the flameproof gap (soiled or damaged).

Accessories and Spare Parts

12.2 Cleaning
WARNING
Do not clean the corroded gap using abrasives or a steel brush!
 Risk of severe injuries; explosion protection is not guaranteed any longer.
 The manufacturer’s liability and warranty expire.
 Use chemical agents for cleaning, such as reducing oils of ESSO, type
Vassol, or similar.

Flameproof gap
X Clean the flameproof gap regularly with an acid-free grease which is compatible with
aluminium.
X Corrosion prevention by means of a coat of paint is forbidden.
