PROJECT TITLE

Development of low cost, light weighted Surgical Robotic Manipulator.

THE BUSINESS

The purpose of proposed research/product development is to develop an adaptively controlled

Robotic manipulator for surgical purpose. This product will be developed to target the medical
field for providing the low cost solution for Robotic Assisted Surgery (RAS). The proposed
robotic manipulator will be based on robust and beneficiary control technique for providing more
efficient, precise and cheaper alternative for medical surgeries as compared to existing
technologies.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

In this project it is proposed to develop a closed loop control methodology (nonlinear, robust and
adaptive) for implementation of predefined trajectory tracking mechanism for medical surgery.
The closed loop control mechanism will help to determine the error signal which will decide the
amount of control action and the adaptation mechanism will monitor the control action for
obtaining the desired trajectory.

POSSIBLE INNOVATION AT LATER STAGE and Scalability

At the initial stage a laboratory prototype will be developed. Successful testing of which will
lead to scale the robotic arm at commercial level to assist surgeons in performing intricate
surgeries in near future.

THE MARKET

Robot assisted surgery has not been adopted in various surgical areas and at many places due to
efficiency, cost and reliability issues. Thus, the wide spread surgical area all around the world is
our potential market and thus the growth is tremendous.
