Child Discipline In Light Of RA 7610, RA 10627

Libertad National High School
Libertad, Misamis Oriental

Gone are the days when teachers impose corporal punishments on

their students to instil discipline. Equally still, the school environment

Tuesday, March 13, 2018 8 is rendered child friendly thru recent legislations by Congress to provide
needed protection to children from abuse, bullying and violence.
DepEd Order no. 40 s. 2012 (Policy and Guidelines on Protecting
Children in School from Abuse, Violence, Exploitation, Discrimination,
Bullying and Other Forms of Abuse) reiterates what is mandated by
Republic Act 7610. To compliment this Law, DepEd’s Order No. 55 s. 2013
also reflects the intent of RA 10627, also called, The Anti-Bullying Law of
2013. These two particular DepEd Orders were issued to protect children in
school from abuses, but also to help teachers in their burden of disciplining
their students in a non-physical, non-humiliating manner.
Libertad National High School adheres to the policies and mandates
of DepEd and works toward a goal of a school that has a child friendly
environment that engender good academic, athletic and nationalistic
qualities in its’ students.
