Reinforcing Effort and Positive Recognition & Guided Practice

By: Chessa Chrisman & Palmer Flahive

● Guided practice is showing and releasing the students to do the task or standard at hand. This
is an especially important strategy when it comes to math lessons but overall important to all
subjects. Guided practice is the “we do” part of the lesson. The teacher guides students through
practice activities. This collaboration gives them more independence to think freely but also
guides them in the right direction.

Reinforcing Effort & Providing Recognition

Providing Recognition vs Rewarding

Providing Recognition:
~a student is more inclined to continue doing work
~Students will feel more confident in what they have done
~more feedback will be given
Rewards
~students will not have as much feedback
~students will not want to do work afterwards
