Students are expected to contribute to enrich the course by participating actively.
Since classes will require substantial class discussion, it is expected that students will come to class prepared to

The quality of class participation will be judged primarily on a comments contribution to moving the class discussion

Plagiarism and Copying

Plagiarism is the unauthorized use of another’s work or ideas and the representation of these as one’s own. This
includes copying another student’s work. SolBridge considers plagiarism as a serious breach that will not be tolerated
in any form. Penalties can be as severe as expulsion from the university. To avoid plagiarism it is always best to do
your own work or cite the work of others appropriately using one of the accepted citation styles (APA, MLA, Chicago or
Turabian). Refer to your student handbook for a more detailed description of plagiarism and the associated penalties.

Research Presentations and Reports

Students will work in groups of 2-3 individuals (depending on the size of the class) to research an OM topic. Research
should be based on the electronic databases available at SolBridge, mainly ABI/INFORM Complete™, Business
Source™ Premier and ScienceDirect® as well as in other electronic sources (ebooks, corporate websites, etc.). Each
group will prepare and deliver a presentation on the research performed.
Each team will submit a preliminary research report on the midterm exam day. The final submission will take place on
the final exam day.
There are three possible outcomes from a project presentation and reports as follows:
 To analyze an existing OM process and suggest any improvements that needs to be made.
 To study OM methodologies in industry from the point of describing risks, benefits, best practices along with
industry examples of each.
 To identify a business opportunity involving a product and build a business plan with a focus on OM issues.

The written reports (preliminary and final submissions) should not exceed 15 pages excluding appendices and
attachments (exhibits, tables, etc.).

The presentation should not exceed 30 minutes including Q&A.
