9-3

A) Theme: Heroism, Bravery

B) Passage: David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and

javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies

of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and

I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the

Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that

there is a God in Israel. (1 Samuel 17:45-46)

C) Reflection: In the book of Samuel it describes a war the Philistines versus the Israelites.

The war is in favor of the Philistines because they have a man named Goliath who is a

warrior. But God sends a man named David to slay the giant. David confront the giant

and kills him with one stone from his sling shot. In our lives we don’t have to kill a giant

named Goliath but we do have obstacles that we need to overcome. With God’s help and

direction we are able to overcome any obstacle that comes in our way.

D) Prayer: Dear God, please bless all who are in a war please give them the courage of Saint

Michael the Arch Angel your mighty defender. As David slayed Goliath that those in

vain may slay there own problems with your wisdom and power. Please dear Lord take

them from vain into the promise land in your name we pray Amen 8
