WINTER READING
PROGRAM
Talkeetna Library’s
Winter Reading Program is
once again “Warm Up with
Reading.” The program
began Feb. 5th and will
continue until the Library’s
birthday party on March
16th. There are different
levels for younger readers,
young adults and adults.
Younger participants will be
filling out snow globe charts;
older participants read and
review books they have
read. There will be weekly
prize drawings for each
level, with a grand prize
sure to warm your heart.
During the program,
special activities and crafts
will be available in the
children's section, so please
feel free to bring in the kids
for some hands-on fun and
a chance to warm up on
those cold afternoons!
BIRTHDAY BASH
The library will be
celebrating its 45th birthday
on March 16th, and also
celebrating the end of the
Winter Reading Program.

goodies, 3-5pm, March 16th,
at the library.
The Talkeetna library
was formed by a group of
local women who collected
donations and housed that
collection in a small room at
Nagley’s. The library first
opened its doors on March
17, 1973. Its opening hours
were 1 to 4 pm on
Wednesday and Saturday
and 10 am to noon on
Tuesday. Librarians were
all volunteers.
SCRIPT TO SCREEN
CLUB, A NEW PROGRAM
Call out to all sixth,
seventh, or eighth graders
who like acting, dramatic
reading, script writing,
directing, or
editing. Friends of the
Talkeetna Library are
pleased to announce a new
program in collaboration
with NSI, for students in
grades 6-8, called Script to
Screen. Participants will
develop a script, make a
short movie using the
library’s One-Button Studio,
and will learn how to use
film editing software.
The program will meet
Wednesdays and Saturdays
for two weeks. The dates
are March 28th and 31st, and
April 4th and 7th. The
program will be limited to 12
participants so please sign
up at the library beginning in
March.

PICK, CLICK, GIVE
The Friends of the
Talkeetna Library are
participants in the Pick,
Click, Give Program
associated with PFDs.
Please consider donating
part of your PFD to the
Friends of the Talkeetna
Library as well as other
local 501(c)3’s. If you do so
before March 31st, you are
also entered into a lottery
that can double your
donation.
The Friends use these
funds donated to support
the programs presented at
the library, to include:
K-3 reading mentor
program,
Summer Reading Program,
Winter Reading Program,
Storytime,
Script to Screen Program,
Teen Book 2 Film Book
Club
Tween Page to Screen
Book Club,
and other adult and
children’s programs.
PFD APPLICATION HELP
Permanent Fund
Dividend applications were
available at the Talkeetna
Library as of January 2nd
and will be available until
the library’s closing time on
March 31st.
Need help filling out the
online application? The
library staff can help you.
Just call to set up an
"appointment" so you can
have their undivided
attention. Appointments
may be made for Tues. or
Wed. morning before
opening hours. Other times
may be possible, but will be
dependent on staffing.
You'll need an email

help you set up.

BREAKFAST BOOK CLUB
The Breakfast Book Club
will meet Tuesday, March
13th, 9:30 am, at the library..
The featured book for
March is Her Royal
Spyness by Rhys Bowen.
Copies are available at the
library. Please bring a
finger food to share. We
will supply tea and coffee.
STORYTIME
Storytime meets every
Thursday at 11:15 at the
library. Join us for books,
crafts, and a snack.
Storytime is open to
children of all ages. As
always, parental
participation is always
appreciated.
TEEN BOOK 2 FILM CLUB
The Teen Book 2 Film
(for teens in the grades of 7-
12} meets the fourth
Saturday of the month at
6pm. Books are available the
month before the event, so
come on in and get the latest
one. This program is
sponsored by the Friends of
the Library. We would also
like to thank The Flying
Squirrel for providing discount
pizzas and the Food Pantry for
helping with the snacks.

The Friends of the Library

5pm. Books are available the
month before the event, so
come on in and get the latest
one. This program is

LIBRARY CLOSURE
