Steps:
2. Teacher tells the story of “The Great Kapok Tree” by using the stick puppets of the
animals. (Examples animals: boa, butterfly, monkey, frog, toucan, jaguar, porcupines, sloth,
anteater)

3. When telling the story, teacher emphases on the sound of “Whack! Whack! Whack!”,
“Chop! Chop! Chop!” and “Whack! Chop! Whack! Chop!” accompany with the actions.
(Literally device: onomatopoeia)
4. Pupils are required to repeat after the teacher the words “Whack! Whack! Whack!” and
“Chop! Chop! Chop!”.
5. Teacher shows the words “Whack! Whack! Whack!” and “Chop! Chop! Chop!” on the
power point and give explanation on it.
Explanation: i) The word “Whack” is not only the sound of an action it is also the
action of striking.
ii) The word “Chop” carries the meaning of cutting things into smaller
pieces and it is also the sound of that action.
6. Teacher shows a few examples of actions to the pupils. A few options are provided to the
pupils to match the onomatopoeia word with the action.
7. Teacher guides the pupils by playing the audio clip of all the onomatopoeia words given.
8. Pupils select the appropriate onomatopoeia that match to the situation given after listening
to the audio sound.

– Giggle – Flutter
– Clap

– Bang
9. Pupils are required to sound the onomatopoeia words given accompany with the action.
