HYDROTEST PACKAGE

PROCEDURE FOR HYDROTESTING OF


E-6509-1/2/3/4 Generator Cooler

1.0 PREPARATION

1.1 Isolate and drain lines connected to heat exchanger, remove front, rear channel
cover.
1.2 Clean the tubes, covers and hp jet if necessary.
1.3 JGC QC, PSPC Inspection and PSPC Technologist to conduct after cleaning
inspection on tube internals, covers, internal and external part of the exchanger.
1.4 Box-up permit must be completely signed prior to cover installation.

2.0 PRESSURE TESTING

2.1 Check all bolted connections for bolt tightening and fill shell side with lube oil
being vented as filling takes place.
2.2 Test the system with water, free from any suspended solids.
2.3 Tube side shall be filled with water, being vented as filling takes place.
2.4 Test pressure shall be 15.00 Bar G with the minimum holding time of 1 hour.
Visual check for leak shall be done in cover and drain point of the exchanger.
Final visual check for leaks shall be done after holding time of one hour elapsed.
Final inspection shall be carried out by PSPC Inspector.
2.5 After successful completion of the test, JGC Phil QC inspector shall complete the
pressure test report with the actual test date, the test pressure applied at the test,
test medium, and the pressure gauge used during the test.
2.6 Pressure test report must be signed by PSPC Inspector.

3.0 DRAINING

Drain the system leaving the vent open while draining once hydro testing of the system
is completed and approved.

4.0 POST TEST

Accomplish the following after satisfactory completion of the pressure test.

a) Remove all test blinds and temporary spades.


b) All operating blinds must be returned to proper position. All lines and
piping components will be completely drained.
c) Reinstall with proper gasket all valves, orifice plates, expansion joints and
short pieces of piping which have been removed during the test.
d) Special length bolting and test gaskets shall be removed and replaced
with proper line class bolts and gaskets.
e) Reinstall, de-blind and place in normal operating position all instruments
which were removed or blinded during the test.
