• What kind of system is able to do these things? It seems brains are
able, right?
• Three Hypotheses:
PRESENTATION
• Cognitive Science will use the three hypotheses to
talk about minds, intelligence, and behavior.
• Every hypothesis will lead to different consequences,
experimental paradigms, technologies, etc.
• In this course, we will review all these different issues
of the cognitive sciences since the 1950s.
• And hopefully, at the end of the course, we will agree
on what the mind is and how to study it.
FOR THE NEXT CLASS…
• Before we get to the specific issues in the cognitive
sciences, we need to set up a framework of study.
• During the next week, then, will talk about science
and about history.
• Next class, we will read Kuhn!
