GM Auto has three plants in Bombay, Calcutta, and Madras, and two major distribution
centres in Pune and Hyderabad, The capacities of the three plants during the next quarter
are 1000, 1500, and 1200 cars. The quarterly demands at the two distribution centres are
2300 and 1400 cars. The distance chart between the plants and the distribution centres is
given in the Table. The trucking company in charge of transporting the cars charges Rs. 8
per km percar. : ee (34242)

a) Formulate the linear programming model of the problem.
b) Find the optimal routes and minimum cost for the given problem using Vogel
Approximation method and Modified Distribution method?
¢) Suppose the breakdown in Calcutta plant reduced its capacity to 1300 cars than what
will be the optimal routes. P
Sham wants to go from city 1 to city 10. The various possibilities and the distances are given in
the table. Use Backward Recursion approach to find optimal route and distance. (7)

Noah’s three children Shem, Ham, and Japheth want to earn some money to take care of
personal expenses during a school trip to local z00. Mr Noah has chosen three works for his
children: mowing the lawn, painting the garage door, and washing the family cars. To avoid
anticipated sibling competition, he asks them to submit (secret) bids for what they feel is fair
pay for each of the three works. The understanding is that all three children will abide by their
father’s decision as to who gets which work. Table below summarizes the bids received. (242)
