Problem 1: Design of forward operations –
Farm to Lab

● Idea to use the post office services is that it has reach even in remote areas
of the country.

● This approach avoids mediators in transportation and payment.

● Company will bear the transportation charge to attract more


farmers.(Company can include transportation price in its fee beforehand).

● If the sample will be sent collectively, transportation cost of speed post will be
reduced which will be provided as relaxation for the farmers.
Problem 2: Design the payment methods

● Post office banking service will be used with the same purpose, as it has
its wide reach.

● Company can have its account in post office where farmers can pay the
amount by cash which will be deposited in the company’s account.

● If the soil sample is being sent collectively, farmers can reduce the
relaxation amount while paying the other 50% of the fee.

Pros :

Cons :
● If there is no trusted middleman (postmaster or farmer), then the transportation charges
will have to borne by the customer.
