UAE Branch AGM 2018/19 elections
There are a few different skills that I feel contribute to my ability to fulfil this position. While
working in my current and previous positions, I have worked to strengthen my
communication abilities. Not only am I able to properly convey points to various people in
ways in which they can understand, but I also realize the importance of listening to others for
comprehension, so that my words may be most effective.
I find that the best way to tackle important assignments is to work backwards, in a sense. I
envision what the project should ideally look like in the end, then I formulate a plan to
achieve that goal.
Being a Chartered Member for the past several years, I have been mentoring a number of
occupational health and safety professionals to achieve their professional objectives. I was
an executive committee member of UAE Branch during 2016-2017 and trust that my duties
1
were delivered responsibly. If I am selected this year, I will be assisting the branch in
developing its members to achieve their CPD requirements as well as assisting the branch in
its day to day activities.
I think that my current experience in the high risk industry and the way I have developed my
skill set on OSH make a good match this role. I am confident to organize, coordinate with
team and motivate every member to add value for the committee.
I believe that volunteering is one way to give back to the world of safety and health outside
work and with my pragmatic perspective I look forward to support and contribute to the IOSH
UAE.
I believe I would be a suitable candidate for Vice Chair due to being self-motivated and my
ability of promoting, supporting and instilling a Health and Safety culture across peers,
colleagues and all types of stakeholders within the UAE.
I would relish the opportunity to collaborate, support and promote the IOSH UAE branch
strategy and values, not only to complement the UAE committee and its members but in
order to drive the Work 2022 campaign. I would look to create links with IOSH UK through
the Middle East Vice President to supplement support to the IOSH UAE branch.
Furthermore, engage with the local municipalities/authorities to establish a collaborative
working relationship that helps to promote the IOSH vision, the UAE branch, Work 2022 and
2
helping to address local Health and Safety issues.
Championing and assisting the development of IOSH UAE branch members to achieve their
goals of obtaining Chartered Membership through CPD/IPD and supporting the new peer
review process would be a key passion for me. I strive to lead by example to ensure that all
parties are provided with the required information in order to drive Health and Safety
principles in accordance with international industry standards.
I am a focal point for Health and Safety across the hierarchy with the responsibility to
coordinate communications to all employees and I possess the ability to develop
communication links between internal and external parties.
I consistently look to ensure all personnel comply with relevant UAE legislation, processes
and procedures but also that they are kept abreast of any changes to them.
Being able to work in partnership with the Chair and other members of the committee to
drive and promote our branch strategy in the UAE would be an exciting opportunity.

participation in branch meetings. By taking this role I believe that I
will able to contribute for IOSH work 2022 strategy.
I have lived and worked in Dubai and the GCC as a HSE professional for more than 10
years - accordingly I have some understanding of undertaking OHS in the Middle Eastern
context. In addition, I have previously held similar roles in other professional institutions and
NGOs during my career and see supporting my professional institute as part of giving back,
mentoring and CPD. I look forward to helping IOSH in the Middle East continue to grow and
4
prosper.
I am fulfilling all requirements, having good communication skills and bring more and more
HSE Professional to IOSH Circle.
Being the liaison/communication front for the UAE IOSH chapter, I get to interact with
members and the general public and often get to address queries and resolve concerns.
This is what I love to do. Am eager to get more means to ensure better and effective
communication moving forward with the next committee session. Thank You
Communications Coordinator
Having a varied 15+ years of experience in the field of HSE / Lead Auditing with a strong
background in Information Technology, I believe that in this position I would be able to set a
benchmark to ensure all kinds of safety culture and awareness information is cascaded
down effectively to relevant stakeholders.
I have more than 15 years experience working in GCC region in countries. I am a Medical
Graduate and have done NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. I am a Lead
Tutor for NEBOSH courses for NEBOSH course provider and Nominated Member of IOSH
for IOSH course provider.
