Bowling Activity #1
Verbal cues used for bowling are “step, reach, roll, release” and
“like clock hands”.
Variation and Students can be given a target like a hoop to aim at and
progression teacher can question why they put the target there (gets
them to think about which side of the body the batsman
might be dominant with etc.)
Partner can move closer to the stumps to act as a wicket
keeper – wicket keeper then has to adjust position based on
how the bowler is bowling.
LEST Learners – Students are paired up and can bowl at their own
pace. Working in partners gives each student a lot of
practice time rather than being lined up and spending most
of their time waiting.
Equipment – Each pair needs a ball and a set of wickets.
Space – each pitch is set up next to each other with a few
metres between each so no one is interfering with another
game.
Time – This activity can run for at least 5 minutes,
depending on how focused students appear to be.
Organisation:
Pitches lined up
alongside each other.
Students (green and
orange) facing each
other. Teacher (white)
can see all students
at once.
