Analyses Performed On The 12 Bus Power System
The maximum installed shunt reactance capacity is required for compensation at this operating
point and some voltage magnitude at generator is increased.
The tables below show the bus parameters for safe operation under peak load condition and in
the event of either contingency event.
Under light condition, all loads are reduced to 40 % of their peak load values Power generation
is reduced to match the load. The voltage magnitude at the generators are also reduced and no
shunt reactance compensation is required
The table below gives the bus parameters for safe operation under light load conditions and in
the event of either contingency condition.

3.2 power system planning problem
Based on future estimates of the load growth, all loads are increased by 20% of the current
peak load values. The system is still bound by same constraints and contingencies as before,
and a previously out service line 7-8 back in the system with new generators added to the
system.
Addition of new generation helps the system meet the increased load. To ensure safe operation
with constraints and in the events of either contingency, additional shunt reactance
compensation is required to be added at bus 4 and bus 5.
The voltage magnitudes can be managed with constraints at this operating point but at values
close to V max.
The data below shows additional generation capacity and shunt reactor capacity
