W hen Devon Preparatory School students arrived on


campus for the first day of school on Wednesday, Sep-
tember 1, they were greeted by new faculty members, a new
Athletic Director and campus construction. They recon-
nected with old classmates, welcomed new ones, received
their class schedules, and attended Mass together in the
school’s gym.
Headmaster Rev. James J. Shea, Sch.P., who served as the
principal celebrant of the opening day Mass, welcomed
everyone back to school and introduced the following new
faculty and staff members.
Class of 1994 Alumnus Mark A. Aquilante, of Norristown
– Devon Prep’s new Athletic Director. Aquilante has taught
middle school history and physical education at Devon Prep
for 11 years. He also served in several other Middle School
positions including Assistant Director, Activities Coordinator,
and Basketball Coach. Most recently he served as the Assis-
tant Athletic Director and Head Coach of the Upper School
Varsity Baseball Team which won the PIAA Class AA District
1 championship this past spring.
Aquilante holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Educa-
tion from West Chester University. “I am very excited by
the challenge to serve Devon Prep as Athletic Director,”
Aquilante said. “It is an honor to represent the school com-
munity in this capacity. I hope to continue to build on the
