Branches of
Government
Executive
The executive branch of the
government is made up of the
Prime Minister and other
ministry departments. The Prime
Minister is appointed by the
President of State, which is a
ceremonial position more than a
actual position of power.
Knesset
The Knesset is Israel legislative
branch of government and is a
unicameral body that is seated in
Jerusalem.
Judiciary
The judiciary branch of the
government is separate from the
executive government. The
courts of Israel are made up of
secular and religious courts from
the various sects in the country.
Israel’s
Government
Parliamentary Democracy
Israel’s form of Government is based upon parliamentary democracy. The
head of Government is the Prime Minister. Israel does not have written
constitution but is governed by eleven basic laws.
Israel is a relatively new
country that has come a
long way since its beginning
in the 1940’s.
There are six main
administrative districts of
Israel.
There are areas of Israel
that have been disputed,
the west bank and the Gaza
Strip.
