I used this curation about using information ethically to accompany my 5th
collaboration lesson on sequencing. Before students began working on their assessment piece (digital timeline) Ms. Allen and I gave a mini lesson on copyright and plagiarism, looked at this curation as a class, and reviewed what those terms mean together as a class. Ms. Allen and I informed students that they would be receiving a reading passage and needed to sequence the events by providing a brief description of the event for their assessment. We also informed them that it was very important to use their own words and thoughts and to not copy from the passage or their peers. In addition to providing videos on the curation I also included pictures, quotes, and definitions to grab student’s attention and to serve as a helpful resource.
