triangle

c2 − a2 = b2 c2 − a2 = b2 14 + 16 + 6 + 9.8 = 45.8
142 − 62 = b2 162 − √160 2 = b2
196 − 36 = b2 256 − 160 = b2
160 = b2 96 = b2

√160 = √b2 √96 = √b2

12.6 ≈ b 9.8 ≈ b

CLAIM: The perimeter of this triangle is…..

EVIDENCE: I got my answer by….
REASONING: I know my answer is correct because the perimeter is sum of all the sides of
a shape.
Answer the question in a complete sentence using claim, evidence and reasoning.
The perimeter of this triangle is 45.8 units. I got my answer finding the missing length of the
base of the triangle. In order to find the length of the base, I used the Pythagorean
Theorem to find the height of the triangle and then used the Pythagorean Theorem again to
find the missing side length needed to calculate the perimeter. I know my answer is correct
because the perimeter is the sum of all the sides of a shape.
