aid you in securing an internship! The internships listed below are just a sampling of what is available. For

DIVERSITY NETWORKING MIXER TONIGHT!!!


The Career Planning & Placement Center (CPPC) invites you to attend our fall Diversity Networking
Mixer on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 6-8pm in our CPPC Lounge (STU 110). We are
committed to facilitating an understanding and appreciation of diversity within the Trojan community.
Come meet and network with top employers from NBC Universal, Eli Lilly, Planned Parenthood,
Hitachi Consulting, Southern California Edison, Union Bank, Warner Bros. and more that are

FIRST GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENT MENTOR PROGRAM


Are you the first in your family to attend college? Would you like to enter into a mentorship with an
alumnus who was also the first in their family to attend college? The Career Planning & Placement Center
invites you to participate in our First Generation College Student Mentor Program. This program will
provide “real world” exposure to the working world through a mentorship that focuses on professional
and career development. Students will be paired with USC alumni who also are first generation college
students. If you are interested in participating in this mentor program please download and complete an

program/. Completed applications must be turned in to the Career Planning & Placement Center
Internship Programs office by 5:00 pm on September 17, 2010.

ONE WEEK ‘TILL FALL CAREER FAIR!


The Career Fair will be held Thursday, September 23rd from 10:00 am – 2:30 pm on Trousdale Parkway.
The Career Center will be holding several workshops to help you prepare for the Career Fair. Please view
the calendar on our website, http://careers.usc.edu/eventcalendar/events/, for specific dates and times.

COMPANY PROFILE EVENTS


During the academic semesters, we invite employers to conduct company presentations. We strongly
recommend that you attend these information sessions to learn about different industries and
organizations, as well as meet some of their key employees. Over the next week
PricewaterhouseCoopers China Sourcing Initiative, Guggenheim Securities, Bloomberg, Boston

PAID INTERNSHIPS
 Houlihan Lokey – Media & Telecom Intern
Houlihan Lokey is a leading investment bank focused primarily on middle-market clients engaged in
mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. With our global reach and in-depth knowledge across a broad
spectrum of industries, we have the breadth and targeted expertise that leads to solid client service.
Houlihan Lokey’s Corporate Finance business consists of industry-specific investment banking
groups that give us a deep understanding of a client’s business and positioning before we are even
engaged in a transaction. With our wide universe of contacts and capital sources, we can help identify
the parties that are best suited to a transaction in order to obtain the most favorable terms available to
our clients. We offer a unique opportunity for students to work on a variety of projects, which provide
exposure to different financial advisory and investment banking products and industries.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general research on companies, industries and the
financial markets, assisting junior- and senior-level bankers in preparing company presentations, and
managing the firm’s library of resources. Candidates should be available to work flexible hours

 USC Human Resources – Graduate Recruiting Intern (2 Openings, $12/hr)


Under the direction of an HR Manager, the HR Graduate Intern will provide support in the areas of
recruiting, on-boarding, file maintenance, performance management and special projects. This
position will help drive the recruiting process including creating new job postings in PeopleAdmin,
reviewing resumes, sourcing qualified candidates from job boards, corresponding with applicants,
conducting phone screens and face-to-face interviews, creating interview schedules, and developing a
candidate pool. Interns will participate in training sessions to develop essential recruiting skills, learn
recruiting systems/software and become familiar with state and federal laws pertinent to recruitment.
No previous Human Resources experience necessary. Must have previous office experience. Must be
comfortable cold-calling job applicants on the phone. Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and
PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn the recruitment system is required. A desire to learn the
fundamentals of recruiting is necessary. Must be highly organized, work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and solid communication skills are a requirement. Business and Communications
M.A.s are preferred. Duration of program: September 1st - December 3rd. Minimum Hours: 30-40
per week. Student Status: Must be a FULL-TIME GRADUATE STUDENT ( 4 units or more). Dress

 Los Angeles Times Media Group – Emerging Media/Advertising Intern ($10/hr)
Learn and manage new projects as part of a project team. Learn and operate backend reporting
systems. Manage databases of competitive information. Work with Interactive Market Analyst to
detail reports on sales activity, site performance and trends. Duration: End of September 2010 to End
of May 2011. 20 hrs per week. Must have reliable source of transportation. 3.0 gpa. Unofficial
transcript. Reliable source of transportation/able to work 20 hrs per week in addition to school. Send

 The Actors Fund – Youth Activities Intern


Will plan and implement social and/or community service events for young professional performers
and their families. Must be able to work a minimum of at least two Saturdays per month and one
Thursday evening per month. Will help with marketing and outreach to agents, union members, and
families. Coordinate community service events (younger/older). Plan and implement social group
activities. Help plan educational workshops and/or college tours. Help co-lead youth subcommittee(s)
for special projects. Help monitor program’s social network sites (Facebook/MySpace). Must have
experience working with families and children. Must have experience with program
development/event planning. Class standing must be a junior, senior, or graduate student. Marketing
and outreach skills are desirable. Necessary to have own transportation for errands that require local
traveling (mileage reimbursement available). Basic knowledge of MS Office, Internet, and Print Shop

Convergent Wealth Advisors currently advises over 250 families of exceptional wealth. Convergent
Wealth Advisors works to establish an asset allocation for each client that is both efficient and
customized to the client’s specific needs and goals. Through extensive research, Convergent Wealth
Advisors then hires outside investment managers to meet the given investment objectives. In addition,
Convergent Wealth Advisors offers the highly personalized concierge-style services of a family office
in an effort to simplify its clients’ financial lives. Client Advisor Group: You will take part in the
daily management of a client relationship. Typical responsibilities include assembling meeting
materials, preparing correspondence to clients, and responding to client requests. Throughout the
internship, you will be introduced to a variety of financial topics, such as asset allocation, portfolio
construction, manager selection, various investment vehicles (mutual funds, managed accounts, hedge
funds), estate planning tools, and many other issues that are associated with the financial lives of high
net worth individuals. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, has excellent organizational and
interpersonal skills, and holds a strong interest in finance. The ability to work in a team is paramount.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is very attentive to detail. The intern must

UNPAID INTERNSHIPS
 Alchemy Entertainment – Intern
Internship at Alchemy Entertainment. We produced the Warner Bros./NewLine feature 17 AGAIN.
We are also currently in development on several other features. Our management/production
company is looking for interns to help out around the office. Responsibilities include but not limited
to occasional movie/TV set visits, assisting the Development Executive, reading scripts and writing
coverage, answering phones and daily office tasks. Must be enrolled in an accredited college or
university. Proficient in using a computer. Highly motivated, independent and organized. I am
looking for interns for the Fall(or available to start immediately). Please include the dates and times

 The Grammy Museum – Membership Intern


The GRAMMY Museum, a non-profit institution, explores and celebrates the enduring legacies of all
forms of music; the creative process; the art and technology of the recording process; and the history
of the GRAMMY® Awards. Internships with The GRAMMY Museum are for one semester and
Interns can work up to 20 hours per week. The roles and responsibilities of the Membership Intern
will be to research and create youth membership benefits. Restructure student membership package.
Research youth markets and ways to promote in those markets. Market and e-blast membership
material and write letters to constituents. Assist Membership Manager with exclusive member events
and functions. Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university, while pursuing a
degree in Communications, Sales, or Business Administration. Proficient in Microsoft Office
programs. Ability to multi-task and take initiative. Posses strong written and oral communication
skills. Possess strong organizational and research skills. Ability to interact professionally with diverse

 City Year Internship Program – Heroes Team Leader


City Year unites young people of all backgrounds for a full year of full-time service, giving them
skills and opportunities to change the world. As tutors, mentors, role models, these diverse young
leaders help children stay in school and on track, and transform schools and communities across the
US, as well as through international affiliates in Johannesburg, South Africa and London, England.
City Year’s Heroes program consists of middle and high school students alike, readily donating time
and effort to make a difference. These young leaders become educated on pressing social issues and
perform corresponding service within their communities. We are looking for dedicated individuals
willing to mentor a team of 10 motivated middle or high school students. As Heroes Team Leader
your responsibilities will include attending team leader trainings, facilitating a workshop based on the
social issue them of the day or month, creating an “end of term” reflection project and more. The
program runs from November through June, with several eight hour service days per month. For a full

 Roozt.com – Brand Ambassador


Roozt.com is a hip, new, Gen Y-focused “Deal-of-the-Day” shopping site exclusively featuring
companies that are Eco-Friendly, Ethical, Humanitarian, and Community-Conscious (think TOMS
Shoes, Ethos Water, Quiksilver). Everyday, we offer one awesome product from one inspiring
company at 50-80% off retail price, and donate 1% of every purchase back to the non-profit of the
buyer’s choice. Roozt.com is a super fun, young office based out of El Segundo, with nearly everyone
being a USC alum. We bleed cardinal & gold, and try to keep our internships in the Trojan Family
whenever possible! We are looking for motivated, outgoing interns for our pilot Campus Brand
Ambassador program at USC. The position involves numerous aspects of integrated marketing and
PR, including brainstorming and implementing creative and unique marketing/branding strategies
around campus. Using social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to connect with and engage students on
campus. Reaching out to campus publications for PR when relevant. Increasing company visibility on
campus through promotions, events, and giveaways. Other areas of campus life that you’re involved
in or get you fired up! If you have a great idea that targets SC students in a fun and off-the-wall way,
take it and run with it. That’s the kind of stuff we like to see! Business Administration or
Communications major preferred, but other majors also considered. The brand ambassador team will
be structured with one leader and 4-5 team members, depending on experience. This is an awesome
opportunity to gain experience in every aspect of marketing and PR, targeted at a Gen Y
demographic. We definitely want to have open communication, and place team members in the
specialty they are most interested in/want to learn about for resume experience. Internship is for
college credit, with the potential to grow into a full-time position, approximately 10 hours max per
