    On March 29, 2018 at 11:30 AM, an armed robbery occurred at the U.S. Post Office located at 202 S. Broadway in Urbana, Illinois. One employee was present during the robbery and was not harmed. The suspect lifted his shirt to reveal what appeared to be a gun handle and demanded money from the employee. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and stamps. He is described as a black male in his mid-40s wearing dark pants, a dark rain jacket, and a dark or blue rain hat with wire-rimmed glasses. The Urbana Police Department and U.S. Postal Service investigators are investigating the ongoing incident.

    Date and Time of Incident : March 29, 2018 11:30 AM
    Incident: Armed Robbery
    Location: U.S. Post Office, 202 S. Broadway

    On 032918, at 11:30 AM, Urbana Police Officers were dispatched to the US Post Office at 202 S.
    Broadway to respond to the report of an armed robbery that just occurred. One employee was present at
    the time of the robbery who was not harmed. The suspect approached the employee and while
    whispering, demanded money. While doing so, the suspect lifted the front of his shirt to reveal what the
    employee believed to be the handle of a gun. The employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash
    which the suspect requested be put into a white Wal-Mart style plastic bag. The suspect also took
    several sheets of stamps that were accessible from the counter. The suspect exited the door and fled
    west on foot. The suspect is described as:

    - A black male in his mid 40s weighing 185 pounds, 5’09” -5’10”
    - Wearing dark pants, a dark rain style jacket and a dark or possibly blue “rain” hat
    - Wearing wire rimmed glasses

    The Urbana Police Dept. has been in contact with US Postal Service Investigators concerning this
    incident, as they responded to the scene. One customer was in the Post Office at the time of the robbery,
    but has not been identified at this time.

    The investigation on the incident is ongoing. Anyone with further information is encouraged to call the
    Urbana Police Department at 217-384-2320. Callers may remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers
    at 217-373-TIPS, submit a tip on the Champaign County Crime Stoppers website
    (champaigncountycrimestoppers.com), or submit a tip on the free P3 Tips app which if available in iTunes
    and Google Play app stores.

    As with all cases, the fact that a person has been charged with a crime does not necessarily indicate guilt
    and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
