A story.

A narrative or story is a report of connected events, real or imaginary,


presented in a sequence of written or spoken words, or still on moving images

Some kind of stories:

Can be: non-fiction :such as biography, journalism, transcript poetry, and


historiography); fiction: such as anecdote, Greek myths, urban legends,
historical fiction, novels, and short stories etc.

In this Unit we are going to refer to short stories: and they have the following
elements:

Character: A person, animal, or imaginary creature in a story, play, or another


literary work

Setting: is the time and place in which it happens. Authors often use
descriptions of landscape, scenery, buildings, seasons or weather to provide a
strong sense of setting.

Plot: the chain of related events that explains to us what happens in a story

Conflict : A struggle between two opposing characters or forces

Resolution: Also known as the denouement, the resolution is when conflicts


are resolved and the story concludes.

Theme: The general idea or message about life that is revealed through a
work of literature
