applicable t o t he employees employed in t he said scheduled employment . The Compet ent Aut hor it y
appoint ed by t he Gover nment shall, aft er t he expir y of ever y six mont hs commencing on t he fir st
day of Januar y and t he fir st day of July, calculat e t he aver age of t he Cost of L iving I ndex Number
applicable t o t he said employees for t hese six mont hs and ascer t ain t he r ise of such aver age over
267 point s. For such r ise of ever y point , special allowance (her einaft er r efer r ed t o as “ t he Cost of
L i vi ng Al l owance ”) payable t o t he empl oyees i n t he sai d schedul ed employment for each of t he
six mont hs immediat ely following six mont hs in r espect of which such aver age has been calculat ed
at t he r at e of Rs. 34.00 per mont h in r espect of all t he Zones.
2. The Cost of L ivi ng Allowance comput ed as afor esaid shall be declar ed by t he Compet ent
Aut hor it y by not ificat ion in t he Offi ci al Gazette in t he last week of July, when such allowance is
payable for each of t he mont hs fr om July t o December and in t he last week of Januar y, when such
allowance is payable for each of t he mont hs fr om Januar y t o June :
