Background: Dysmenorrhea is abdominal pain originating from uterine cramps and occurs
during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and
cramps, pain like colic in the abdomen. Some women even fainted and drunk. This situation
appears severe enough to cause the patient to get paralysis of the activity temporary. Aim:
To determine the correlation between knowledge and nutritional status of adolescent with
dysmenorrhea case in senior high school 1 Motui in 2017. Method: This study conducted
observational analytical with cross sectional approach. population of the study was all
students at class X and class XI which amounted 51 persons. the sample of the study was
the whole number of population with sampling technique that was total sampling. Data
collection was through primary data and secondary data. Those data were processed using
statistical product and service solution (SPSS) version 23 and analyzed by univariate and
bivariate with chi-square statistical test and presented in the form of frequency distribution
table. Result: there was a correlation between knowledge and dysmenorrhea case (p-value
= 0,001 ≤0,005) and there was a correlation between nutritional status of adolescent and
dysmenorrhea case (p-value = 0,007 ≤0,005). Conclusion: there is a correlation between
knowledge and nutrition status of adolescent with dysmenorrhea case in senior high school
1 Motui in 2017.
