Teacher Vision Statement

In my classroom, students will see the beauty of math and understand that math is just not a set of skills
but a way of explaining the world around us that was developed by humans. Connections between math
and the real world will be made through the use of investigations, hands on learning, and research
based teaching strategies. As 21st century learners, my students will use technology to collect data,
explore topics, practice skills, research information and share their learning with others. Students will be
active participants in their learning and work collaboratively to meet their learning goals. Students will
develop a growth mindset and actively track their progress towards their goals. In order to meet our
goals, lessons will be standards based. As the teacher, I will set short term and long term goals for my
students and each lesson and activity will be planned with these goals in mind. Lessons and activities will
be meaningful and differentiated to meet the diverse needs of the students in my classroom. As a
teacher, I will demonstrated the importance of lifelong learning by attending professional development,
reading and learning more about my content area and the art of teaching. Students and teacher are
treated with respect in the classroom and all members are a valued part of our learning community.
