Abstract

This paper compares the study of Biogas production using sugarcane waste-pressmud and
kitchen waste. This experiment was conducted in Floating Drum type Anaerobic Digester of
capacity 2m3, made of Sintex Tank. Dry pressmud was used as an input feed with water in the
ratio 1:1 and fermentation process at 32oc-35oc was maintained in Mesophilic condition. Then
kitchen waste was used as an input in same condition. The initial pH, Methane concentration,
Biogas yield,VFA and HRT, this parameters where studied in the experiment. Maximum biogas
production yield was 0.65m3 and Methane concentration is about 63%. Maximum biogas
production was reported as 120 min mesophilic condition. pH maximum level was 7.2. HRT
days where calculated for 40 days. Our research shows that biogas yield is more in Pressmud as
compared to Kitchen waste.
