TODAY IN CHIEFSVILLE… 1 7 1 16
Better Not Leave Early: Through four games of the 2018 season, the Chiefs have played exiting, close WP: Jimmy Cordero (1-0, 0.00)
game with late inning drama. All four of Syracuse’s games to start 2018 have been one-run games, and all LP: Tyler Duffey (0-1, 0.00)
four have been decided in the final at-bat, including last night’s 2-1 victory. In fact, Syracuse has only come SV: Carlos Torres (1, 0.00)
to the plate training in two innings so far this season (Top 7, Sunday & Top 9, Sunday). HR: None
E. Jackson: 4 IP, 2 H, ER, 6 BB, 3 K
Bend But Don’t Break: While the Red Wings managed baserunners in eight of nine innings yesterday, the

Chiefs allowed just run, holding Rochester to 0-10 with runners in scoring position. Over the last three
games, Syracuse has stranded 35 runners in scoring position, holding its opponents to a 0.97 average in Notable: De Aza reached third in ninth

Moises in the Middle: Moises Sierra has posted hits in each of the first four games of the year out of the
clean-up spot. Sierra has also walked four times, good enough for a .500 early season on-base percentage.
Sierra swiped two bags Saturday, following up a season where he went 18/21 on stolen-base attempts.
Lefty Magic?: Syracuse faces LHP Adalbert Mejia today for Rochester. In an admittedly limited sample
size, the Chiefs have hit .333 so far against left handed pitching (8-24) compared to just .194 against right Syracuse vs. Rochester
handed pitching (20-103). All Time Meeting #1557
ROC leads 841-715
Viva Mexico: Cesar Vargas makes his first start with the Chiefs today. Vargas, who split last season
between San Antonio and El Paso in the Padres system, posted a solid seven starts with San Diego in 2016 2018 - SYR 1-0
before his season ended in May due to right elbow soreness. The Mexican native last pitched in the
International League in 2015 as a member of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Vargas hopes to @SYR: 0-0 @ROC: 1-0

home run off Chance Adams to give the Chiefs a 4-0 lead. Stevenson hit two home runs this spring after 4/10 A (5:35p)
hitting just two all of last season. In fact, the 23-year-old entered 2017 with just six career home runs. 4/11 A (12:35p)
